“Pride In The Park” up in FoCo this weekend!

Most of the events listed on this blog are in Denver but I wanted to let y’all know our friends up in Fort Collins are celebrating pride this weekend with Pride In The Park.  The festival is Saturday afternoon (June 6th) from 11:00am-5:00pm in Civic Center Park, Fort Collins.

Following the festival is the after-party at the Sunset Events Center where the Demented Divas will be performing.  The after party is from 6:00pm-1:00am and the Divas go on stage at 7:00.  Tickets for the after-party are $25 and include a drink.  If you just want to go for the dance portion after the show it’s only $10 (which also includes a drink).

Ya I realize that was alot of info so check out their website if you get confused.

Next Denver Gay Professionals event this Wednesday

Tickets now on sale for Denver gay film fest

The Starz/Tivoli Film Center is holding their annual Cinema Q film festival later this month from May 28-31st.

Why then am I posting about it now?

Cos tickets just went on sale to the general public (that means you).

That’s right, any joe-random-queer-off-the-street can get himself into this festival just by mozieing on down to the box office.

11 different films will be offered so check out the full festival schedule here.

Angels & Demons Release Party

OutFront is throwing a release party for Angels & Deamons, the prequil to The DaVinci Code on Monday May 11, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Brandon’s Pub, 955 Lincoln St. in Denver.

At the event OutFront is giving out free advance screening tickets for the May 13th show as well as mysterious “other goodies” according to their blog.

our events this month…. be there.

april’s got spirit

so i’ve got sports and drag and parties in april. i can’t forget the spiritual side.

 

 

MCCR (the metropolitan community church of the rockies) is hosting some entertaining easter services featuring one of denver’s local gay celebrities, james roy. Check him out on his website. And check out the services if you want an inspiring message in your life. even though church isn’t really my thing, i like music… and i like supporting institutions that support me. you go MCCR

 

 

and Jewish Mosaic and Hillel of Colorado are hosting a Queer Seder on the 13th. i know jewish people and i still don’t know what a seder is…. but it’s here and it’s queer. so go to it.

we like sports too

i don’t usually pay much attention to sports but denver is actually quite a balls happy town… and in this case i specifically mean volleyballs, softballs, and bulls’ balls (or whatever balls they deal with at rodeo type events).

 

 

the gay volleyball association is hosting a national tournament next weekend (the same weekend as coronation. talk about uncoordinated. let’s spread the love denver men) at the du courts. i’ll be there on sunday. you should be too.

 

 

if you like biking, both OUTspokin’ and the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Boys are have started up in april. OUTspokin’ is having their kick-off and sign-up party on the 15th at charlies and the Bicycle Boys already had their first ride on the 4th. 

 

the denver area softball league is signing players up for this season at different bars and events all week. and gay and lesbian flag football has already started playing

 

and if all that weren’t enough, the rodeo association is holding another ghymkhana on the 19th. i’d go if i weren’t already going to see volleyball. grrr…. stupid overlapping events. but at least this way we get to pick and choose. denver apparently has it goin on.

imperial court fever

if you haven’t been living under a rock, you know that coronation is coming up next weekend. i wrote about it already in april events but i had to write about it again cause it’s actually a series of events that have pretty much taken over my attention

 

 

the big to do is on Saturday the 18th but there are a couple of events before and after. on thursday, the 16th, the courts of Minneapolis and Seattle are hosting a show at Broadways with an afterparty at Boyztown. on friday, other performers from outside denver (reigning monarchs only) will be showing at Mary’s. and on  sunday there is a victory brunch and been bust at the sheridan and BJ’s respectively.

 

so yes, i’ve established that there are lots of court events happening next weekend. it’s gonna be a busy time for our denver girls. and all that stuff’s listed in both community papers and fliers and websites. the thing is, i just got an email from someone encouraging me to vote for one of the candidates for empress…. in my personal inbox! this is serious.

 

it’s a good thing i got the email because i’d forgotten how soon voting was happening. it’s this saturday, the 11th from 11am-6pm in cheesman park. it’s gonna be the event of the week. you should be seen there. check out their pamphlet to get all the info you want.
